Reading - Improves your writing skills

People who read a lot get new ideas faster, that is why if it can be made as a habit or a hobby one would do well.Usually girls read more than boys, boys are mostly outdoors in their free time whereas girls are more into reading.Atleast that is what I have seen in my friend circle. I personally am not very fond of reading. Once when I was travellingfor more than 10 hours at a strech, I really got bored, and could feel what I was missing. There are people who also have different choices as well. For me whenever I have read a little bit it has either been thrillers or suspense. I guess a more read man or a woman would have termed both as the same :-)
Reading is also something which lends us varied perspectives if you are not one who is blessed with seniors who are really knowledgable. A person who is not coming out of a really rich cultural background, this is one weapon which he or she can useto climb up the ladders of learning real quick.
Reading is also something which helps in improving your writing skills. There was a time when I was forced into reading quite a bit of literature, that was the time when I used to use a lot of synonyms, for example Navjoy Singh Sidhu, offcourse he overdoes it mostly. That I guess comes out of excessive reading. A person should always try to maintain a fine balance which should never be crossed. One should not read so much that he goes eccentric.
At the end I would conclude with a slight regret, which is I wish I could read a bit more!! I would have been richer in my writing skills
